Chemo plan - July 21, 2022 (imported from Facebook)

Hey everyone.

I can't sleep right now so I figured I would give you some details on my chemo treatment plan. The plan was to start today, but while they were giving me some of the pre chemo medications, such as the anti-nausea drugs and Benadryl, I had an extreme reaction to one of the anti-nausea drugs. I basically blacked out. So they will try something different tomorrow for the pre chemo cocktail...

For the actual chemo treatments, I will receive two different drugs, one followed by the other, go for 21 days and then have another session. This will go on six times. The two drugs are carboplatin and paclitaxel. One takes 3 hours and the other one takes 1 hour, both administered via my new port that I got to today.

During those 21 days my body will be processing the chemo drugs. After the first 7 days or so, I will start losing my hair. So I plan to go sometime early next week and get it cut short so it at least isn't as dramatic when it does start coming out. And then I will also be very fatigued the 3 weeks. And very immunocompromised.

I know that a lot of people have asked what they can do, and a lot of local people are planning on stopping by to visit at some point in time. Please DO NOT send flowers. Because of my immunocompromised state, I will be more sensitive to flowers and pollen than I already am.

Also, if you are someone local that wants to come over to visit, I would absolutely love visitors if I'm feeling up to it. I am going to ask that you wash your hands as soon as you get here and wear a mask. I hope you understand. They have warned me even about not touching my face after petting the dogs.

If you feel so inclined to do something, you can get restaurant gift cards or things along those lines. Wil and the boys are handling the food quite well right now, but it might get to a point that we all need a break from preparing meals.

When Wil takes Jack to Taiwan in late August, I would probably use the restaurant gift cards more at that point because I probably won't really feel like cooking. Also, when Wil takes Jack to Taiwan, I will need help with rides to and from chemo and maybe someone to run a few errands here and there.

I already have some people on a list that have offered the help, but that's also something that locals can do.

So along those lines, if anyone needs our address, please PM me so I can send it to you 🥰🥰🥰
